It was great to hear Gideon Coe playing another tune from the forthcoming album the other night on his BBC Radio 6Music Show. He was doing a “goodbye to all that” themed show from his shed, which is where he recorded his 6Music shows for the last 18 months due to the pandemic. We sent him our new tune ‘Sayonara Means Goodbye’ specifically for that reason and he included it and gave us a very nice plug for the new album. You can listen back to the show by following the link below. It’s an hour in (track 17).

We’ve had some really great radio play for our new track ‘Life On The Black Dog’ featuring Eliza Carthy. So far Tom Robinson, Gideon Coe and Shaun Keaveny have played it on BBC Radio 6 Music, John Kennedy has played it on Radio X, and Max Reinhardt (ex-presenter of The Late Junction on BBC Radio 3) on Morley Radio.

Here’s what Shaun Keaveny said when he played it on his weekday daytime show on 6 Music recently:

Behold, a new video for One Big Con featuring the legend that is Tom Robinson!

One Big Con features a wild sonic and visual collage of samples, clips and conspiracy theories – overlaid with a spoken word vocal from BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson. “This song is my tongue in cheek nod to the struggle of staying afloat in a tsunami of post-truth misinformation” he says. Known as an anti-fascist campaigner in the punk era of Rock Against Racism, Tom was taken aback to discover even his own name had been appropriated by the far-right agitator Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, posing as “Tommy Robinson

“The lyric on One Big Con focusses on a range of historical controversies ranging from bonkers to believable” says Tom. “Despite holding strong views on today’s live issues such as Brexit, Trump/Russia (and Tommy Robinson), I didn’t want this song to turn into just another political rant. Instead the aim here is to explore human gullibility in the context of decades and centuries gone by.”

This powerful video is the result of three month’s painstaking research and editing work by The Altonator. It tells the long-hidden story of how Medieval, Tudor and Victorian power elites have shamelessly spread misinformation designed to hoodwink our ancestors across the centuries.

Stranger Swings is the band’s most ambitious outing to date, mixing vintage swing style beats and darker, sample heavy breakbeat tracks such as One Big Con. It features guest appearances by Professor Elemental, Neal X and Fey Pink as well as two guest vocals by Tom Robinson.

One Big Con is the second taster to be released from Stranger Swings, following last year’s electro swing single Psychedelic Freakshow (feat Fey Pink) which was released in November 2017. The video, produced by Square One Studios in collaboration with Wunderland Make-Up studio can be seen below.

We’re very proud to announce that the first track from our forthcoming album is released today (20th October 2017)! It’s entitled Psychedelic Freakshow and features the wonderful and very talented Fey Pink. Here’s a link to the rather fantastic video produced by Square One Studios in collaboration with Wunderland Make-Up Studio. Below the video are links to where you can purchase the digital download.

The Video was filmed at Poltimore House in Devon.
